The 5th – 11th March 2012 is British Pie week and in true Gourmand fashion the next 7 days will be dedicated to Pies!

Day 1 Pie is a Lamb and Mint pie from the Misletoe Bakery in Jesmond , Newcastle upon Tyne

The pastry on the pie was perfect and not at all dry or crumbly.

As you can see the pie was jam-packed with Lamb, unfortunately the filling was rather dry to eat on its own and had a fair bit of gristle.

After eating one half of the pie I couldn’t continue with the other half and had to throw it out. Not a good start to day 1 of pie week.

Unfortunately Mr Gourmand is unavailable for the whole of pie week, as a pie connoisseur his opinion will be sadly missed.
