Popcorn – Actifry Style

When you think of the Tefal Actifry, popcorn probably would be the last thing you would think about cooking in it.  Popcorn is actually very good for you (minus all of the butter) it’s a delicious snack and something that we eat regularly as a snack.

Making popcorn in the Tefal Actifry is probably the easiest thing you will ever cook, there is no real recipe for this so I’ll just list below how I do it and if you like popcorn as much as I do you can make some for yourself.

Take a couple of handfuls of popping corn, add this into the Actifry bowl, add to this a 1/4 of a spoon of oil.

Turn the Actifry timer to 20 mins, it will not take as long as this but it’s best to be on the safe side as the amount of corn added affects the cooking time.

Sit back and watch the corn start popping

Once the popping has slowed down I like to add a knob of butter and some dried herbs or some chilli powder, you can experiment with different herbs and spices to suit your tastes on the day.

Have you tried making popcorn in your actifry before? Do you have any recipes I can try?

We love the Actifry for fabulous French fries. I was wondering if I could make popcorn in it, and found your site. Popcorn with olive oil is very tasty and needs nothing more than salt.
Now I’m going to try it. Thanks!!

It didn’t work when I tried this, I think I used too much oil though.

My first few attempts resulted in burnt popcorn, I find different brands have different results and luxury corn is the best. I need one of those popcorn machines that require no effort!

Confused. Why not just make it in a pan in two minutes flat?

I find I use less oil than I would in a pan and depending on the type of corn don’t need any oil but always need a good glug in the pan as they are all heavy bottomed pans. My preferred method is to just open up a pre-popped bag!

  4. This didn’t work for us. Only two kernels popped 🙁

  5. Kai says:

It does not work. I got only 2 pop after 30 minutes.

Did you even try this before you posted it? Followed the recipe to a T. Doesn’t work. Been in the actifry for 50 mins and there is about 6 popped pieces of popcorn.

I did yes, the image was taken from my attempt at it. I do think it depends on the type of corn and oil used.
