Meal Planning Monday (9th November 2015)

I was so busy last week that I completely forgot to schedule my Meal Planning Monday Post, we didn’t eat anything spectacular as I was busy with work all week so my slow cooker got a right old bashing.

Meal Planning Monday

I’m really excited for this week, on Tuesday evening I’m going to a new food assembly which has set up in our town where lots of local suppliers will be displaying their wares.  I’ve already pre-ordered some cooking apples and a vegetable box and I’m really excited to see what else is on offer.  Depending on the items I receive in the veg box my meals may change.

This week the Gourmand family will be eating:

Monday: Roast Chicken with Veg / Curried pumpkin soup

Tuesday: Beef Stroganoff

Wednesday: Fish Pie / Celery soup

Thursday: Fruity Haloumi with freekeh salad

Friday: Honey Mustard Chicken

Saturday: Prezzo for dinner

Sunday: Fruit and nut stuffed chicken legs

It’s Halloween on Saturday which is one of my most favourite times of the year.  We always have a little party in the house and I’ll be spending this week baking things with Mini Gourmand like cupcakes, spooky fudge, jelly, witches fingers and of course a whole range of pumpkin inspired dishes.

Meal Planning Monday (28th September 2015)

Arthur is now at nursery two mornings a week so we’re just having simple things on those two days as by the time I get him home and tidy up/play with him/bath him I really can’t be bothered to then start preparing a labour intensive dinner.

Meal Planning Monday

Last Saturday, instead of having a takeaway I decided to test out some of the food I’m going to cook at our England vs Australia rugby world cup party next week.  We had parmesan garlic wedges, mozzarella and olive pizza and prawn and cucumber skewers.

This week the Gourmand family will be eating:

Monday: Chicken Teryiaki

Tuesday: Citrus Chicken

Wednesday: Fish Morney

Thursday: Lamb Biryani

Friday: Moroccan Chicken

Saturday: Rugby World Cup party food

Sunday: Sweet potato cakes with salsa salad

Meal Planning Monday (21st September 2015)

This week is a pretty busy week as Arthur is at nursery for two half days meaning I have been able to take on more work, of course it also means I won’t have as much time for meal preparation as I would if I was in the house all day.  On Friday evening I’m staying at a hotel prior to a NCT conference on the Saturday which I’ll be speaking at on the topic of digital media.  Saturday will be a takeaway dinner as I’d imagine I’ll be tidying up the mess made in my absence.

This week the Gourmand family will be eating:

Monday: Chicken with Puy Lentils

Tuesday: Mackerel Biryani

Wednesday: Ras el hanout Halloumi

Thursday: Spaghetti and Meatballs

Friday: Meal at hotel

Saturday: Takeaway

Sunday: Roast Beef

Meal Planning Monday (31st August 2015)

It’s Meal Planning Monday again and today is Mini Gourmand’s 15th Birthday so we’re not having a meal as such, more a party tea with cakes, sandwiches, potato wedges, pizza, crisps and cheese and pineapple on sticks as they are a family favourite.

Last week’s Gousto box were a massive success so we’re having them again this week, my recipes will be a mix of Gousto’s and my own.

This week I’m actually planning our Halloween menu and if I have time I’ll also think about Christmas, it doesn’t seem that far away but it has a habit of creeping up on me too quickly so I’d like to be prepared this year.

This week the Gourmand family will be eating:

Monday – Party Tea

Tuesday –  Chicken Satay

Wednesday – Harrissa Halloumi

Thursday – Lamb Burgers

Friday – Jerk Chicken

Saturday – Stuffed Jackets with chopped salad

Sunday – Vegetable meatballs with spaghetti

Meal Planning Monday (24th August 2015)

It’s Meal Planning Monday again, doesn’t it come around so fast?

This week we’re trying a Gousto box again so a few of the meals are from there, Mini Gourmand wanted me to use my new Magimix this week so the bread buns and burgers will be made in that along with pastry for my pie.

This week the Gourmand family will be eating:

Monday – Waldorf Chicken

Tuesday –  Hoisin meatballs

Wednesday – Teriyaki tofu

Thursday – Chicken pie

Friday – Mushroom stroganoff

Saturday – Reuben Burgers

Sunday – Roast Chicken with vegetables

Meal Planning Monday (17th August 2015)

Mini Gourmand is back home today and we have a guest until Thursday (Grandma Gourmand).

I have a brand spanking new Magimix arriving this week so I’m looking forward to creating some delicious pate, cakes, bread and biscuits with it which I’ll be sure to share here.

My menu plan this week is subject to change because Grandma Gourmand has a tendency to visit M&S when she arrives for things she likes to eat so my menu might go out of the window in favour of something else so watch this space.

If things go to plan this week the Gourmand family will be eating:

Monday – Spaghetti alla puttanesca

Tuesday –  Mustard chicken with dauphinoise potatoes

Wednesday – Steak sandwiches with baked flat mushrooms

Thursday – Chicken pie with mash and peas

Friday – Spaghetti Bolognese

Saturday – Vegetable tart with salad

Sunday – Takeaway

And that’s our meal plan for this week, pop back next week for Meal Planning Monday.

Meal Planning Monday (10th August 2015)

Mini Gourmand is still on holiday with her grandparents and our visitors have returned home so it’s just Mr Gourmand, Baby Gourmand and myself eating at home this week.

I’m actually feeling a little uninspired again and I hate it when I feel like this.  I went for a run a couple of days ago and all of the bad eating is really catching up with me as I’ve been feeling lethargic and lacking the energy that I had.

If anyone has any cookbook recommendations for vegan, vegetarian or paleo diets please leave them in the comments and I’ll check them out for future meal plan inspiration.

This week The Gourmand family will be eating:

Monday – Asparagus, mushroom and cheddar quiche served with a salad

Tuesday –  Mushroom alfredo pasta bake

Wednesday – Steak pie, mash and veg

Thursday – Grilled Halloumi Pittas with Salad

Friday – Lasagna with Garlic Bread

Saturday – Middle Eastern Vegan Bake

Sunday – Garlic Tofu in Asian sauce with rice

And that’s our meal plan for this week, pop back next week for Meal Planning Monday.

Meal Planning Monday (3rd August 2015)

How did August come around so quickly?  We spent a few days last week up in Newcastle and I ate like a true glutton during my time there.  I actually feel ashamed that I ate so badly so this week we will be making up for all of the fat/cream/alcohol and sugar consumed.

I’ve decided to cook a few vegan dishes again as they always make me feel a little better and I feel like I’m looking after my body from the inside rather than filling it up with crap.  I’ve taken inspiration from one of my favourite vegan cook books Thug Kitchen this week

This week The Gourmand family will be eating:

Monday – Curried vegetable soup (It may be summer but this soup is too delicious not to eat)

Tuesday –  Asparagus risotto

Wednesday – Vegetable ramen

Thursday – Mixed bean chilli with coriander rice

Friday – Spaghetti with bean meatballs

Saturday – Cous cous stuffed peppers with sauteed garlic potatoes

Sunday – Cauliflower pizza

And that’s our meal plan for this week, pop back next week for Meal Planning Monday.

Meal Planning Monday (27th July 2015)

This week we only have a couple of days at home before heading up to Newcastle to attend a friend’s wedding.  We will be returning on Saturday though so will only have two days off our meal plan.

I’ve noticed on quite a few blogs that there are some great new additions to the Newcastle food scene since I moved away almost 3 years ago and I’m looking forward to trying some of them out over the couple of days I’ll be visiting.  I never seem to be up there long enough to try out everywhere so I need to be selective about my eating choices I think.  If you have any recommendations for us to try please leave a comment below.

This week The Gourmand family will be eating:

Monday – Sweet and sour chicken with boiled rice

Tuesday –  Vegetable stir fry

Wednesday – Staying with relatives

Thursday – Wedding

Friday – Staying with relatives

Saturday – Takeaway

Sunday – Chicken and spinach pasta bake

And that’s our meal plan for this week, pop back next week for Meal Planning Monday.
