The Bar at the Brandling is situated in Brandling Village, Jesmond a Short walk from Jesmond Metro Station, if you don’t know the area you will probably never be able to find it as it’s hidden behind a variety of streets, on the other hand you may just stumble upon it by accident like we did the first time we visited.
The Bar at the Brandling has a variety of clientel the majority of which are students, there is a selection of comfy seating, high stools and tables. Staff are always friendly and happy to offer help with drink selections, information about real ales and current offers.
Mr Gourmand took advantage of the Jacket Potato and a pint offer (£3.50) which is the cheapest I’ve seen anywhere.
Mr Gourmand described the potato as hot and delicious, his topping of Tuna mayo went down a treat.
As it was Sunday I opted for a Traditional Roast Beef dinner (£5.95) The Roast beef was tender and tasted homecooked. The Roast potatoes were crispy and the vegetables were firm not mushy, my only criticism was the frozen yorkshire pudding, I prefer a home cooked one, it’s just my personal preference.
Each sunday roast ordered comes with a free dessert which Mr Gourmand ate for me since I was far too full after my huge dinner!
A Sunday Roast at Bar at the Brandling is fantastic value for money, I can think of anywhere else that offers a two course Sunday dinner for £5.95.
