Day 6 of British pie week already, hasn’t it flown over, I hope you have all been enjoying the best of British pies?
Today I’m bringing you something different, a sweet pie and one of my favourites. Bask in the glory of the
This little beauty was purchased from the French Oven in Newcastle’s Grainger Market, you can find them on twitter @frenchoven
Unfortunately when I purchased this pie I popped it straight into my bag which ment the bottom got a little bashed and I couldn’t take it out of the tin to photograph so the next view you are going to see is of the filling minus the lid (It was the only way)
I ate this pie with a fork and can I start off by saying this was the best apple pie I’ve had! The apple was sweet, soft and fresh tasting. The pastry was perfect and I got a hint of cinnamon or nutmeg, it was so slight that I can’t quite put my finger on it.
There really isn’t anything else I can say about these pies other than go and try them for yourself.
While I was standing in the queue it was apparent that the French Oven is a very popular place and the quality of the goods really does speak for itself. Look out for a macaroon post soon as I purchased 8!
